Brian's Guitar from Conception to Birth
or How to Build a Guitar in 62 Easy Steps! |
|
AutoCAD Drawing File |
Some aspiring guitar builders have asked for my original AutoCAD
drawing file.
I initially did not post it since I did not want anyone to fall into
the mindless trap of not thinking for themselves then blaming me
when things don't come out right. I will make the AutoCAD file
available, but you must read the following warnings first:
|
●
Do Your Homework: The layouts and templates were designed
around hardware specifically bought for our guitar build.
These layout and templates will NOT work for you unless you buy
EXACTLY the same hardware and electronics. Nothing is standard
in the world of guitar parts. If you buy different hardware,
you must measure it and update all of the layouts and templates.
If you buy different electronics, you must verify your own wire
colors and connections. You only have yourself to blame
if your guitar doesn't play right or if it doesn't plat at all.

●
Make Your Own Prints: I will NOT print out drawings and mail
them to you and I will not tutor you on how to run AutoCAD; this would imply some sort of guarantee which I can not
offer. This file was drawn in AutoCAD release
2000. To look at and print the drawings, you must have access to a copy of
AutoCAD 2000 or later or DWG TrueView (the viewer is free from
AutoCAD's website). Also, you must have access to a large format printer. If you
don't, you'll have to piece together a bunch of little printouts.
You can check with your local blueprint house or copy shop to see if
they're equipped to print out AutoCAD files.
This drawing was setup in metric. For a full-scale print, set your
plot scale to 1 inch=25.4 drawing units.

Don't Blame Me: These layouts are probably 95% accurate; some details
had to be sorted out at the workbench. Use this information as a starting point only.
You are
responsible for verifying your own measurements, making your own
design decisions, and editing these templates to fit your own
hardware. Use this drawing file at your own risk.
If you understand everything noted above, you can download the
drawing with the link to the right. You must Right-Click/Save
Target As since your browser will not know what to do with it. |
