Traditionally this is supposed to be a
vehicle to share your yeast sponge and nurture relationships with your
neighbors. I think it's much more friendly to just bake them the
cake. Preheat the oven to 325°. In a mixer equipped with a beater, combine all the ingredients. Mix on medium for about 2 minutes. Grease and flour 2 large loaf pans (or spray them with Baker’s Joy). Pour in the batter equally between the two pans. Bake at 325° for 1 hour. Check to see if a toothpick comes out clean. Take them out and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Remove the loaves from the pans and let them cool on a rack. The bread is plenty sweet, but if you wish you could top them with frosting, a powdered sugar glaze, or slice them up and schmear on some jelly. |
