Our
guitar will have some fancy wood veneer on the front of the
headstock. Plane the wood to thickness and cut it plenty oversize.
Since this will abut the back of the nut, the veneer should be
angled to account for the thirteen degree tilt of the headstock. You
don’t want an unsightly gap here. Spread a thin layer of glue on the
veneer and carefully position the veneer right up to the nut layout
line. Use a clamping block to spread out the pressure on the thin
veneer and use plenty of clamps. Wait at least an hour before
removing the clamps, preferably two. |
